3.89 The name of former Detective Sergeant Roger Rogerson came to public prominence during this era following the incident on 27 June 1981, when a drug dealer, Mr Warren Lanfranchi, was shot dead by him at Dangar Place Chippendale. There was a finding by the Coroner that Rogerson had shot Mr Lanfranchi ‘whilst endeavouring to effect an arrest’, the jury having declined to find that the shot was fired in self defence. 310
